Customs and Shop Update

Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday season! I am getting into the Christmas spirit! Our family even took a little trip to our town's park to see the wonderful Christmas lights. It was really spectacular! Although I think our little Lucy was more confused by the lights than anything.

Along with working on dolls I've been trying to finish up Lucy's baby quilt! I tried several times to attach the binding by machine, but couldn't get it to look good at all. I gave up and decided to hand stitch it. Time consuming, but definitely worth the effort. I already love how its turning out! What are you guys working on for the holidays? I was hoping to get an advent calendar of some sort created, but I've been so picky on the type that I am afraid I probably won't get one made.

Anyways, on to the good stuff! Below are some photos of a doll that's up for sale in my etsy shop. Her name is Minty! Don't you just love the soft mint green and pinks together? The next doll is a custom I created for a lady in Kentucky. I have several more dolls in my drawer that I'm working on, but I only have so much time! Lucy has been extremely needy these last few days. Perhaps she knows that mommy only has so much time to get things done?

Well, my family has been sick pretty much all week. It really sucks. I feel a little bit better, but I'm still getting the chills every once in awhile. Poor little Lucy had to go to the doctor for antibiotics. Good thing I got these dolls done earlier this week before we were sick!

Hey everyone! I am looking for some feedback from you guys. If you could take a minute to answer a question of mine that would be wonderful. I am thinking of adding more options with my rag dolls on Etsy. I would love to add doll quilts/blankets, scarves, pillows, etc to my listings. Do you think that would be a good idea? If you do, what would you like to see most and what would you think is a good price? I'm thinking that the dolls would come with these other items, not sold separately. Let me know! I would love to hear what you have to say.

WIP Wednesday

I have been a busy bee this last week or so trying to get dolls prepped. So far I have five dolls that are in the beginning stages of being created. Lots of arms, legs, skirts, and hair to be sewn! And did I mention stuffing? Lots of stuffing! I even had to go and buy a new bag of fiber fill! I am very excited to see these little ladies finished, are you?

I have two new dolls up on my etsy shop! Etsy Shop Plus, I added a listing for your own custom doll.

I am so excited that my hubby and I got to have a week off together! I even learned how to sew in elastic! Simple, yes, but I have procrastinated over learning how to do that for some time now. So, now my dolls will have removable skirts! I have also been watching a lot of youtube videos that show me how to do other types of clothing, which will soon be available with my dolls as well. I am in the works of creating my own doll patterns too! The second doll is from a pattern my hubby and I designed, I can't wait to include more of those dolls on my etsy site. Fabric + A Doll Quilt

Just wanted to show you what I've been working on lately. First is a photo of a doll quilt that my sister and I worked on together. This was the first quilt for her and the first binding attempt for me. ^^

The next photo is a photo of the fabrics that I've chosen for my baby quilt. I've already sewn the blocks together and one border. All I need to do is sew on the second border and then I can quilt it.

This last photo is some fabric that I couldn't resist buying. It looks even better in person. I tried to adjust the colors in photoshop, but its still not as beautiful as in person. If I can find anything to go with this, I'd love a quilt for myself made out of it. ^_^

The next projects I'm working on involve animal plushies/dolls!

Heart Bag + Sewing Station

Yay, I made another bag! This time I used the leftover fabric from a quilt I'm making for my grammy. ^_^ I'm really pleased with how this bag turned out. I was a little worried because I had to buy a heavier interfacing because the other kind was sold out. The heavier interfacing was a bit of a pain, but it still worked! This bag is slightly smaller than the last bag because I didn't have enough blocks, but its still a good sized bag. (15x12 in)

And I thought I'd post a picture of my little sewing station. <3 I really like the setup because everything is now at my fingertips. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it picked up! ^^;;;

Yummy Bag

Yay I finally finished my first bag! It took me about six hours to do this, not including the time my grandma had to help me. I'm very pleased with how this turned out, next time I'll have to do something more complex. ^_^ Also, the money that went into this bag was from my Aunt Lorna for Christmas. I even have enough fabric left to make another bag! So this only cost a little over $10 to make. I can't wait to make another one. I just have to get my sewing area cleaned up and away I go, lol. <3

So Many Projects So Little Time

I have so many ideas floating around in my head its insane. I really need to just sit down and do something... like homework, haha. On my previous post I uploaded pictures of my mini quilt. Last night I actually attempted to quilt it on my sewing machine. I think it was a pretty good effort since it was my first try. It does have a bit of bunching up in some corners though. -_- I'm going to attempt to take those sections out and resew them, we'll see how that goes... Then the dreaded binding. Which I will take several years to procrastinate about doing. Ha.

I'll post pics as soon as I get those pretty little flaws taken care of, lol. Plus I have some pictures of soap to show you!

Mini Quilt

So I started working on this mini quilt yesterday. I really love the colors in this, its so earthy and has a vintage feel to it. Plus it worked out great because the borders were scraps I had in my stash. The next thing is to attempt to quilt it... O.O I may trying seeing what it looks like tied first... if I don't like that then I might try to stitch in the ditch I believe its called.

I think I'll call this mini the Brandy Quilt. There's a girl in my church who is in the hospital right now, she's very sick. I won't go into details, but I spent a lot of time praying for her while I was making this, so the name seemed fitting.

It's Been Awhile

Wow! It's been awhile since I've posted on this blog. Since I've posted last I've definitely improved in my sewing skills. ^_~ Anyways, I just wanted to post a little something that I've been working on.

The first two pics are of my fabrics I just picked up. The next three are stages of coasters that I made. I really like how these turned out. I did give my Mom a set of four that had chickens and roosters on them. The last pic is of a mini quilt I started last night. I love the retro flower fabric, its so delicious. ^_^

So, I recently was inspired to start quilting. My friend made her first quilt a couple months ago, but now she's making a second one, which I absolutely love! So, I decided to start my own. I'm using the "Turning 20 Again" pattern for my first quilt, it's supposed to be a lot easier than others. Anyways, here's some photos to show you what I'm up to. <3
